The work we do

Designed to see the whole person and help them pursue fulfilment of physical, mental, and spiritual health.

  • A diverse group of eight people seated around a round table, engaged in discussion and reviewing documents, with a small potted plant in the center.

    GROUP WORK IN PRISON

Through the SYCAMORE TREE PROJECT, we teach on the principles of Restorative Justice and through group work we build positive and sustainable support.

All who partake in the course are impacted by the transforming course contents.

  • Silhouettes of four people helping each other climb a hill during sunset.

    MENTORING

We match self-selected or prison staff-nominated prisoners with our team of trained volunteer mentors. Our mentors meet to build relationships, increase self-esteem, and provide consistency and accountability in the lives of our service users. These relationships have the potential to blossom and continue as the service user completes their sentence and is returned to the community.

  • A person sitting on a bench with arms stretched forward, head bowed, and hands resting on knees, surrounded by four other hands touching shoulders, head, and arms in a supportive gesture.

    ADDICTION RECOVERY

Release provides a unique in-custody assessment service for incarcerated people seeking referral to community-based residential and day programmes as an alternative to imprisonment.

  • Two women sit at a table reviewing and discussing paperwork, with one woman holding a pen and the other woman resting her arms on the table.

    PRACTICAL HELP

Leaving prison can be challenging; having to navigate through accommodation, entitlements, relocation and ever advancing technology. Release can help with practical plans for reintegration and referrals to our partners.
